Shhhhhhh….Secret Sunrise At Hilton Fest

Hilton Arts Festival
Hilton College: 14 – 16 September
Pssst – Kicking off the second day of the fest, Secret Sunrise comes to the Hilton Arts Festival this year on Saturday 15 September at Hilton College.
Billed to be about letting go, having fun and dancing to celebrate the sun and yet another beautiful day of being alive, the Secret Sunrise makes its way up to the Midlands for the first time featuring at the festival.
For a good while now, many KZN folk have become avid followers of the Secret Sunrise experience. They gather on a beach, in a park, in the hills and dales to celebrate the joy of being alive.
Organiser, Jane Killian Show says: “The essence of Secret Sunrise is to have people celebrate the rising sun from various secret venues in the city. The silent headphones and instructors provide the space for people to connect, love and engage in radical self-expression all to share compassion, kindness and, of course, joy. What we love about it is that you are locked into your own world while you’re wearing the headsets. There is zero judgment …just joy while you’re following some guided instructions and celebrating your ability to move.
Whether you can dance or not, it’s about moving your body in a way that feels natural to you, not necessarily what everyone else is doing. This is your time to express yourself in your way. We have three year olds up to 83 year olds! Everyone who wants to take part, can and should.”
Members of the public should refer to the Secret Sunrise social media for further details of the Hilton experience. www.facebook.com/secretsunrisedurban; www.instagram.com/secretsunrisedurban or email durban@secretsunrise.com for more info.
Festival Organiser, Sue Clarence said, “We are delighted that our not so Secret, not so Sunrise event is taking place up the hill. Being festival weekend, we understand that people have stayed late the previous night to watch shows, and won’t quite be up to catching the sunrise, so we have organised the Secret Sunrise a bit later. I know there is a tremendous following in Durban and surrounds and we hope that locals and guests of the festival will come and join us for an energising start to their Saturday.”
An ideal way to get into the festival mood for the day. After an hour’s dancing, pick up a delicious breakfast at Jackie Cameron’s Bistro or one of the numerous food outlets in the Corona Festival Marquee or food village before watching a show, browsing the art exhibitions or even…dare it be mentioned ….watching the rugby test match to be screened in the Bistro.
The festival will take place on the beautiful grounds of the Hilton College from Hilton College: 14 – 16 September 2018.
The festival would not be possible without the generous support of Hilton College, Grindrod Bank, Black Coffee Design, DWR Distribution, Extreme Events, Bidvest Car Rental, KZN Dept of Arts & Culture, Redlands Hotel, Assitej South Africa, Loud Crowd, Sappi, BASA, RMB and Corona.
