Lovers of top-class independent theatre are in for a treat as award-winning festival gem, The Agents, visits KZN for the first time: heading to The Theatre at St Anne’s Diocesan College, Hilton on Thursday 5 February, and then for one weekend only at the Seabrooke’s Theatre at Durban High School on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 February following sold-out runs in Jo’burg, Cape Town and the National Arts Festival.
The Fleur du Cap nominated ensemble of Roberto Pombo, Lisa Derryn Overy and Kyla Davis shine as a trio of deliciously devious over-the-top estate agents: the unforgettable Venter, Linda and Brenda. who are willing to say and do anything for their next sale.
No one is safe from their hilariously sharp critiques – from slick real estate agents, to clueless home buyers, to neighbourhood watch groups (you know the ones…) – as they gleefully tear apart the cut-throat world of property development, gentrification, fancy estate living and the Capitalist Dream itself.
Directed by physical theatre legend Toni Morkel, The Agents is an outrageously satirical comedy that is ‘screamingly funny and entertaining’ and a ‘smart play, with a superbly crafted script, zany performances with clowning, mime and physical comedy and satire which zips and thrusts.’ (The Cape Robyn, 2024).

The production won a Standard Bank Ovation Award (National Arts Festival – 2024) and a Fleur du Cap nomination for Best Ensemble (2024).
