The Durban City Orchestra presents their second concert series of the year, following on from their hugely successful homage to music from film and musical theatre – with a second programme of carefully curated glorious bouquet of themes from much loved stage and screen productions to be performed throughout Women’s Month – at Milkwood Theatre on Sunday 16 at 3.30pm, at St Agnes on Sunday 23at 3.30pm and St Thomas on Sunday 30 August at 3pm.
The orchestra, one of the longest running orchestras in the country, has a complement of approximately 35 active members who get together weekly. The orchestra includes two accomplished professional musicians in Charl van der Merwe as Resident Conductor and Jitske Brien as Concert Master.
Among the pieces to be performed include: Disney at the Movies; Feather Theme from Forrest Gump; theme from Harry Potter; Hook; How to Train your Dragon; Jurassic Park; Lord of the Rings; Phantom of the Opera; Pirates of the Caribbean and Superman.
Milkwood Theatre is at Danville Girls High School, 21 Middlebrook Ave, Virginia, Durban North. Parking at Newport Ave gate (between Astro and the church). The Junction @ St Agnes Anglican Church is 53 Abelia Rd. Parking on site, and St Thomas Anglican Church is 190 St Thomas Lane, Musgrave. Alongside St Clements / Pink Duck in Musgrave Rd. Enter from Essenwood / Stephen Dlamini Rd side.
