Swati Vocalist Zoe The Seed lights up Eshowe

In association with Concerts SA, iSupport Music Business presents Zoe The Seed Live in concert. Zoe The Seed and her band will visit Eshowe on Sunday 28 May, with a live performance at MC Lounge in King Dinuzulu Township. On Monday 29 May she will present 2 concerts for various high and primary schools in the region.
Zoe The Seed is a qualified jazz vocalist from Swaziland based in Durban. Most of her songs consist of her own compositions that showcase her Swazi lyric flare of writing. Additionally, she is influenced by South African jazz, gospel and world music. All those influences together result in a sultry African modal sound that tackles everyday issues and include songs about the forever rising statistic of child and women abuse affecting many South Africans. Zoe The Seed has shown immense interest in bringing music awareness to communities and schools. As a facilitator at the Bat Centre she was exposed to being a music educator, a mentor and a friend to her students. Through the support of iSupport Music Business and Concerts SA, she has provided workshops to facilities like Amatikulu Primary School and Albert Luthuli museum, educating young learners about jazz music and how it affects our music industry. Music educators like Neil Gonsalves, Susan Barry and Demi Fernandez groomed her in the art of Jazz and were a huge inspiration to become and do more. Zoe The Seed has worked with many musicians like Mbuso Khoza, Allou April, Lex Futshane etc. For some years she was the drummer for Heels Over Head, a Durban based all-female jazz band, then left to pursue her own vocal career. She’s currently independently working on her debut album and studying at the University of Kwazulu-Natal.
Zoe The Seed’s accompaniment for this performance includes Zibusiso Makhathini on keyboard, Sbu Zondi on Drums and Dalisu Ndlazi on bass guitar.
“My music has always related to everyday challenges that we go through as human beings. Considering how the country has been unsettled with so many political factors affecting the economic state of the country, I want to be an instrument of hope. This is what I think we all need, what makes us human and in South Africa, is our culture and our diversity: the fact that we are one in many.

Music is comprised by those same elements of different pitches that make one statement that create a song. Let’s remind ourselves that what holds the value to our progress is the respect, peace and love. Our differences and agreements can be expressed through respect peace and love. My songs like Inhlonipho (respect) and Indlela iyabutwa (ask advice from those who have experienced) trigger the very essence of humanity.” says Zoe The Seed.

Local support act Good Reflection Jazz Band will also perform alongside Zoe The Seed. This Eshowe band was established in 2010 by four of their members: Collen Alexander, Kenneth Mendluli, Ernest Shange and Sakhephi Buthelezi. In 2017 they recorded a 6-track album titled Anger that is due for release in June 2017.
This series of performances by Zoe The Seed in Eshowe is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities, as well as anchor small and medium sized venues in urban and rural Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.
