Shelfie Feature – Vusi Meyiwa

Our Thursday’s Shelfie Feature we meet up with our own Vusi Meyiwa. Enjoy finding out what he loves most about books.
He has been a Denis Hurley Centre Street Lit bookseller for around six years – he is one of the founder members of the project. He is happily selling his books at Bluff Towers.
He loves reading – he says it “Expands my thinking, improves my vocab and calms my mind.”
He has always loved reading – even before he got into book selling. But now that he is surrounded by books – he reads far more.
He is currently reading Credo Mutwa: Let Not my Country Die. “It is interesting. I am finding out so much information about our previous South Africa and how it has become what it is now.”
“Although I read non-fiction, my favourite genre is fiction. In fact, my all-time favourite author is James Patterson. I love his style of writing. He can be quite amusing. The way he describes situations, the writing takes you right in and makes you feel as though you are part of the book. I can’t put his books down – they are real page-turners.
“My favourite books last year were the Alex Cross collection which are also by James Patterson. I really love whatever he writes. I have a personal collection of his work at home.”
“I always try and encourage people to read. These days, people love phones and shy away from reading books. Books give us knowledge and the broaden our minds. There is some info hidden in books which can’t be found anywhere else. “
“A lesson I have learned is that: Perseverance is the mother of success. You have to persevere in order to succeed.”
