& Two Pop Up festive stores
On Friday 6 December, at 2pm, there will be a free afternoon Summer and Festive Family Fashion Show, hosted by Roberta Alessandri Models and Events, in and around the Glenwood Village centre atrium.
All of the clothing and fashion outlets will be involved to showcase the range of family fashion available at the centre. Included in the range will again be uber elegant special occasion women’s day, evening, cocktail and party wear available from The Fifth. There are two festive pop up shops upstairs who will be add to the selection: bespoke locally made garments – many in bold shwe-shwe colours, and quality accessories including leather bags; cases, hair clips and jewellery from Vittoria and Co; dramatic beaded jewellery, bold picture hats and fun shoe laces from Bright Shadow; exquisite Eastern wear from Silk and Bamboo, and some vintage and preloved bespoke garments from the upstairs thrift table. Children and men’s fashion will be included as well.
Glenwood Village Management, invite shoppers to grab a coffee, cooldrink, cake or afternoon tea at one of the coffee shops and get a front row view of the fashions.
Sharing the Pop Up space is Utahwashe Kiddies Spa which offers pampering and wellness for youngsters.
Over the festive season, there will be live music every Saturday morning courtesy of Durban’s own Gary McKenzie who will be singing holiday tunes and making visitors aware of activities and promotions taking place throughout the centre.
There is also a huge collection of CDs and DVDs on sale – which benefit the Denis Hurley Centre Street Lit project which is an entrepreneurial initiative for homeless and formerly homeless people. Typically, Street Lit sells books, but they are deviating from tradition by selling the dozens of quality DVDs and CDs over the festive season, which have been donated to the project. They are outside the pop-up shops upstairs.
“Increasingly we understand the need to nurture a sense of neighbourhood in places where we gather,” said Glenwood Village’s Steve King, “And what better occasion to celebrate our shared community, than over the festive season.” he said. “We really do intend to be your everyday centre.”
The management and tenants at Glenwood Village are preparing for the summer holidays and festive shopping with a host of events, promotions and value-adds for their customers.
Entry is free and all are welcome. Glenwood Village doesn’t charge for on-site parking, has guarded street parking and is easily accessible on public transport. The centre is on the corner of Che Guvara & Hunt Roads, Glenwood, Durban. For more information, contact 031 201 0137 (o/h).
