Ferguson Road Halloween Party at
Sica’s Guest House on Saturday.
Sica’s Guest House: Saturday 28 October from 4.30pm.
Join us for a fun family afternoon of Halloween tricks and treats, followed by rugby, this Saturday at Sica’s Guest House.
Since 2014, the creative and community spirited residents of Ferguson Road in Glenwood have hosted a fabulous family-friendly Halloween party in their road. Part of the fun was the preparation – residents got together to make their own decorations using recycled materials. This annual tradition came to an end over lockdown … but is being revived again this year!
Those decorations which have survived the floods are being retrieved from various storerooms and dusted off, and costumes are being dug out of the back of the cupboards and freshened up in preparation of a neighbourhood trick or treating.
This year the organisers are keeping the event cosy – with entry being limited to 150 creepin’ kiddies (and their grown-ups) in the grounds of Sica’s Guest Lodge in Westridge from 4.30pm on Saturday 28 October.
The event will be ticketed – at R50 and a bag of wrapped sweets to share, per participating child. Offroad parking is limited – so car-pooling is recommended.
“So many families have approached us to start up the Halloween Party again,” explains Helen Thompson – one of the founders of the event. “So, we thought we would try something a bit different, and host a more intimate, contained event this year to get the ball rolling again. Hosting it at Sica’s Guest House is the perfect solution and we are delighted to be working with our neighbours in Manor Gardens this year,” she said.
This year’s event is being hosted by Manor Gardens Residents and Ratepayers Association, supported by Ferguson Road residents. There will be food and drinks on sale, and RWC final will be screened on a big screen.
Tickets and sweets drop off at Sica’s Guest Lodge – 19 Owen Avenue, Westridge.
In the event of bad weather – the event will be postponed by a week. Check the Ferguson Road Halloween Face Book page for updates and details.
