World Trumpet Day: Tues 10 October
Tuesday 10 October is Trumpet Day – it’s a day for passionate musicians, brass band enthusiasts and those who simply love to create a little music in their life to get together and pump out some sweet, sweet melodies.
Pictured in front of the old Mithell Park Bandstand – home of generations of joyous music – is trumpeter Cathy Peacock, with a sprig of Handroanthus Albus (better known as the golden trumpet tree).
Peacock will be playing in the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra 2023 World Symphony Series Spring Season which marks the Orchestra’s 40th Anniversary and runs in the Playhouse Opera Theatre between 19 October and 9 November, each Thursday concert commencing at 7pm. She will also be leading Platform Jazz in their Swing into Spring Concert with special guests Shelley McLean Downham and the Gee Jays on Sunday 29 October at 2.30pm at the Durban Jewish Centre, presented by Friends of Music.
