Durban Art Gallery: 21 May until 21 June
Alliance Française de Durban and The Durban Art Gallery are proud to present Seeking Love – a solo exhibition by 2017 Gerard Sekoto award winner Banele Khoza on 21 May 2019.
The exhibition will run until 21 June 2019
This collection of work reflects the complex nature of love, how important it is to acknowledge the hearts’ desires and to also learn self-love – which he wants people to walk away from the exhibition thinking about. “This exhibition is an open love letter to whoever is watching or reading my work – also to God/All/The universe. I am confessing that I am ready, and I am letting go of the search,” explains Banele Khoza
Banele Khoza (1994) is a Swazi-born and South African-based visual artist. He first enrolled at the London International School of Fashion in Pretoria, but soon realized his passion was in the Fine Arts realm. Khoza holds a B-Tech in Fine Arts from Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria. In 2017 he won the prestigious Gerard Sekoto Award and with it a three-month residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris
Free walkabout with the artist: Wed 22 at 10am until noon. This will be an opportunity for the public to view the art, learn about the creative process and the intention of the artwork.
