A Double Dose of Daniel

Hey Daniel, a drink’s on us!

Thank you Se-Anne Koopman of The Daily News for doing a fun photoshoot with “Daniel and Daniel” ahead of Thursday evening’s World Symphony Summer Series concert.

The shoot was having fun with the idea of a “Double Dose of Daniel” as the KZN Philharmonic this week hosts associate guest conductor Daniel Boico, and soloist Rumanian pianist Daniel Ciobanu.

Last year at the same time, Daniel Boico was also in town, and the soloist was also a Daniel (Israeli concert pianist Daniel Gortler), as was the orchestra’s librarian Daniel (Daniel Walshaw).

On Thursday, “The Daniels” will present an all-Russian programme which features at its centre-piece Prokofiev’s viscerally exciting Piano Concerto No.3. Either side of it are Borodin’s Overture to Prince Igor and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony Pathetique: No. 6 in B minor – the composer’s final completed magnum opus.

The concert takes place at the Playhouse Opera on Thursday 23 February at 7.30pm. The final dress rehearsal is open to the public, at 10am on Thursday.

To continue the theme,  if there is a Daniel in the audience on Thursday evening – show your ID to a member of the Playhouse bar staff and have an interval drink on us!
