Alliance Francaise de Durban presents
Friday 22 November.
Join the Alliance Française de Durban for a magical evening to celebrate the arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau. Be part of the global celebration of this French tradition of tasting the new wine – and support the bursary fund for Francophone scholars.
The Beaujolais Nouveau is a light, fruity red wine from France’s Beaujolais district. Beaujolais Nouveau Day is marked in France on the third Thursday in November, with music, festivals and fireworks. Under French law, the wine is released as midnight strikes, just weeks after the grapes have been harvested. Bars, restaurants, bistros and pubs across France and around the world can then begin serving the new wine.
The 2019 Beaujolais Nouveau has been flown in especially for the event at Alliance Française de Durban. The team at the Alliance Café has created a unique Beaujolais menu for the evening.
The programme for the evening starts with a complimentary glass of Beaujolais Nouveau and entertainment by Magic&Mayhem, followed by a ‘blind’ wine tasting workshop with Shakila Maharaj.
Participants will also have the opportunity to buy raffle tickets and win amazing prizes (including a game drive at Thula-Thula) throughout the evening and participate in an art auction.
All proceeds will go to the Bursary Fund for Francophone scholars, an initiative of Alliance Française and refugee Social Services.
