In association with Concerts SA, Durban-based hip-hop artists Breeze, Inseezy and MX present The Independent Tour. The first of its kind from independent artists, the tour will see the three rappers blazing stages across five cities in eleven days.
The three artists have been part of the Durban hip hop scene for several years and currently have individual projects out. Breeze released Zulu Bass King, soon followed by MX’s IAMX and recently, Inseezy released his Trial and Era EP. It is befitting that they embark on the tour together as they feature each other on their individual projects and have been part of each other’s musical journeys’ since their days of performing at the reputable Bat Centre.
The Independent Tour commences on 24 November at Absolute Niteclub in Durban followed by a performance at Exclusive Lounge, Pietermaritzburg. Thereafter they will head to Gauteng with performances scheduled for Johannesburg, Soweto and Pretoria, before reaching Cape Town for the final leg of the tour on the first week of December.
This tour will allow the artists to get up close and personal with their fans who have and continue to support them and it promises to be an unforgettable experience. The artists promise to deliver electrifying performances on every stage that they grace for the tour and with the StageGod (Breeze), MX and Inseezy on one stage, one would not expect anything less.
Rapper, dancer, model and brand ambassador, Breeze excels in all aspects of entertainment. His highly energetic performances have earned him the title of “Stage God”. Breeze’s mixtape, TrendSetter, released in 2012 earned him five nominations at the Original Material Awards. His EP Zulu Bass King peaked at over 100.000 downloads. His music video for Amanga was debuted on MTV Base and was on rotation for six weeks on the channel. He also featured on Nasty C’s mixtape, Prince City and DJ Dimple’s album Zeal. Breeze’s latest release, Icathulo, featuring Gigi LaMayne has topped charts and trended on social media in three SADC countries.
MX is a musician and entertainer with an apparel brand IAMEX. His solo project IAMEX EP features artists such as Nasty C, Aewon Wolf and Masandi (CashTime Fam). The album was released online and upon reaching 10.000 downloads, he took it down and sold physical copies “out of the trunk”. MX has been the opening act for international artists Lil Wayne and DJ Fat Boy Scoop. He also graced the stages of the 12th Metro FM Music Awards Launch, COP 17, Castle Lite Sub Zero Event, and SATMA Awards 2011, to name a few.
Inseezy’s Trial & Era EP was released in November 2015. His single from the project titled My Name received extensive airplay both on commercial and community radio stations. The video for the same song was debuted on MTV Base. He features artists such as Breeze, Aewon Wolf, Gemini Major, Maraza and August Rush. Inseezy is also part of Durban collective 031 Avengers. His Trial & Era Deluxe LP is scheduled for release in December 2015.
The Independent Tour by Breeze, Inseezy and MX is supported by the Music Mobility Fund, a funding mechanism administered by Concerts SA which offers opportunities for South African musicians to undertake live music tours.
Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian initiative housed under the auspices of the Stakeholder Hub within the SAMRO Foundation; it receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the SAMRO Foundation and Concerts Norway. Working with musicians, promoters, venue owners and audiences, the project aims to support live music in South Africa by finding and implementing ways to create a vibrant and viable live music circuit. It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.
