The Jazzy Rainbow: Saturday 12 November
The Blvck Crystals – a five piece instrumental band – will be performing at the Jazzy Rainbow this Saturday 12 November.
In association with Concerts SA, Jazzy Rainbow brings you The Blvck Crystals. They are a five piece instrumental band influenced by experimental Jazz and Hip Hop sounds. The band comprises of Dalisu Ndlazi (Bass) , Jaedon Daniel (Keys) , Jude Kenrick (Drums), Nick Pitman (Guitar) and Nokwanda Nkala (Saxophone). The Band also features two Rappers; Karabo Moklate and Seth Banda as well as two vocalists: Red Robyn and Victoria Raw. Each member plays a vital role in the evolution of the band’s dynamic sound.
The Blvck Crystal Band formed in early February 2016 and has already managed to attain a uniquely dense presence in the Local live music scene. After planning, funding and headlining their own tour to Cape Town in July 2016 where the band played at renowned gig venues such as ‘The Waiting Room’, ‘Straight no Chaser’ , ‘Moholo Livehouse’ and ‘Piano Bar’ the band returned to drench Durban in its progressive untamed sound.
‘This is what most of the Show feels like, a fellowship of like-minded, creative souls who explore their music to greater depths and seek answers to their own questions.’ – A review by Gareth Harvey
The Blvck Crystals provide the South African music scene with colour, vision and a deep consciousness for music that takes the listener on a journey. A Blvck Crystals gig is a new and exciting experience for both the audience and the band as they allow for the energy of the time, and each other, to direct the music freely. Each of the five core members are extremely skilled musicians and this contributes to the intellectual, emotional and spiritual trajectory of impact that the Blvck Crystal’s music possesses.
This performance by The Blvck Crystals at The Jazzy Rainbow is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit which aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities, as well as anchor small and medium sized venues in urban and rural Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.
Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian live music development project housed within the SAMRO Foundation. Concerts SA receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAMRO, the SAMRO Foundation and Concerts Norway. Working with musicians, promoters, venue owners and audiences, and providing support to the sector through research and skills development for music professionals, the project aims to build a vibrant and viable live music circuit in southern Africa. It also aims to develop an interest in and appreciation of live music by showcasing music performances and conducting workshops at schools.
