…. at the Hilton Arts Festival
Hilton College: 11-13 August
One of the productions coming to the annual Hilton Arts Festival, being held at Hilton College, just outside Pietermaritzburg, from 11-13 August, is the delightful children’s puppet theatre production from Wakkerstroom, “Stuppet Stories”.
Hilton is the largest festival in KZN and one of the leading festivals in SA. This year’s event will take place five weeks earlier than usual, which organisers hope will result in better weather for visitors.
When Robyn hears strange sounds coming from an old suitcase she is at first afraid to open it. But when she does, she discovers the Stuppets, or Story-Telling Puppets, that had told stories to her during her childhood. Robyn had completely forgotten about the Stuppets, and now that they are out of the suitcase they cannot wait to tell their stories.
Meet Mr Mouse, Gogo, Uncle Jack, the grumpy Goat Man and the mysterious Green Man as they emerge one by one to tell stories and sing songs about caring for each other and Mother Earth.
Written and performed by Wakkerstroom based creatives – Carol Preston and directed by Sue Hall.
There is an accompanying book of “Stuppet Stories” for sale at Hilton from the performance venue, by Carol Preson.
