Masandi Kicks Off The Slam Tour In Port Shepstone

In association with Concerts SA, R&B-soul singer and songwriter Masandi embarks on a SADC regional tour with a live band and special collaborators.
Heavily influenced by soul music, rhythm & blues and hip-hop as vocalist and lyricist, Masandi embarks on his first solo tour, following the release of his Escalation EP in 2017. The tour includes performances in his own hometown in KwaZulu-Natal and neighbouring countries Swaziland and Mozambique.
The first R’&B artist signed under K.O‘s CashTime Records, Durban-born Masandi is also well known as a presenter and actor, especially for his role in popular TV drama Isibaya.
Asked about his upcoming tour, Masandi says: “I am very excited to share my music live in concert with my South African, Swaziland and Mozambican fans. The tour will kick off in KwaZulu-Natal’s Port Shepstone, in a town called Gamalakhe, before crossing a couple of African borders to the north-east. We are thrilled to be embarking on this journey.”
In his live performances, Masandi is supported by an array of young, talented instrumentalists. Perfect Zuma aka TCee is a UKZN Jazz Piano graduate. Giyani Shangase, also known as G Funk, is a Durban-based bassist, producer and DJ.
Thabiso Lavish has been selected as the special guest artist for the tour, opening for Masandi at every gig. A UKZN Music & Drama Performance graduate, Thabiso describes himself as a hybrid artist. He adds a different flavour as he is also a dancer and a singer. He has gained a lot of his popularity by being part of Clash of the Choirs, Season 3 on Mzansi Magic.
Masandi on Tour is supported by Concerts SA through the Music Mobility Fund, a funding mechanism which offers opportunities for South African musicians to undertake live music tours.
