East Meets West Bridal Fair
Pavilion Shopping Centre: Fri 30, Sat 31 May & Sun 1 June.
The annual East Meets West Bridal Fair comes once more to Durban’s Pavilion Shopping Centre on Friday 30, Sat 31 May and 1 June to assist and inspire those preparing for their dream wedding.
The Fair will be held throughout the centre and boasts a myriad wedding themed events, activations, exhibitions and displays designed to help couples and their families plan for their big day.
Engaged-to-be-married couples can enter a phenomenal competition and stand in line to win fabulous prizes – the winner receiving a bespoke Durban wedding valued at more than R170 000. The amazing sponsors include Premjee’s Jewellers who are gifting a white gold and diamond ring; One Stop Tours is offering a trip to Mauritius as the perfect honeymoon destination; the Oyster Box Hotel is offering a reduced price for venue hire and honeymoon stay; Kevin Hsu Photography is providing a wedding videography and photography package; adding to the grand prize is a MAC gift hamper and the Bridal House Ballito is offering wedding gown hire.
To enter, shoppers simply need to complete the online entry form, on www.thepav.co.za. Or, they can visit the bridal fair exhibitors and scan the QR Code at each exhibition stand to enter. Due to the magnitude of this competition, and much as everyone loves a free party, remember it is only open to engaged couples planning their wedding. Stringent Ts &Cs apply. The winner will be announced on Sunday 1 June at 2.30, after the fashion show. Entrants need to be present to qualify.
There are a multitude of event highlights this year: there will be carefully curated fashion shows, produced by Roberta Alessandri Events and Models, taking place in the main Fountain Court on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm showcasing a range of Eastern and Western designers; fashion houses; garment hire, make-up artists; henna artists; and accessory-providers
Setting the tone for the fashion shows, will be Moscow-trained, and Umkomaas based violinist, Marianna Eriksen, who will be playing a range of romantic, classical and wedding inspired music just ahead of the fashion shows daily on Saturday and Sunday at 1pm. Playing at weddings is her favourite thing and her professional speciality. “I get the chance to play such pretty music, and at such joyous occasions!” she said.
Understanding the multi-cultural complexity of Durban, wedding support appropriate to different faith and cultural traditions; classic and contemporary styles; various budgets; partner choices and aesthetics will be on offer. Over 50 exhibitors are spread in pods throughout The Pavilion – showcasing everything from décor ideas to wedding cakes; champagne to suits; florists to henna; make-up to videography; bridal dresses to event planners; honeymoon destinations to wedding rings.
