Cycling For Alternatives To Street Life

NGO Director, Mpendulo Nyembe, takes his last ride before packing up his bike and heading to the UK where he plans to cycle from London to Paris in four days (26-29 May) in a bid to raise funds for local street children and youth NGO: uMthombo Street Children SA. He is calling on the public become part of the solution to homeless children and youth on Durban’s streets. He is inviting the public to sponsor his 400km ride, and inviting the private sector to partner with them as a social marketing opportunity.
When Nyembe returns, uMthombo is planning a “Heroes Welcome” event on 23 June at 7am where the public is invited to join him on a ‘solidarity ride’ from Blue Lagoon to South Beach, followed by a multi-sports festival on South Beach, where street-connected children, allies of uMthombo and members of the public will play team sports like mini-soccer, mini-cricket and volleyball on the beach. On Addington Beach, the more daring may sign up for surfing classes!
