All At Sea With The KZNPO

World Oceans Day
Week three: Durban City Hall: Thursday 13 June
Acclaimed Japanese conductor, Maestro Yasuo Shinozaki, is pictured with Simiso Radebe, first violinist with the KZNPO on the steam tug Ulundi at the Port Natal Maritime Museum in honour of Saturday June 9, being World Oceans Day, which is a sustainable development goal supported and promoted through UNESCO. This theme is echoed in Thursday evening’s KZNPO orchestra programme in the Durban City Hall opening grandly with Mozart’s Idomeneo Overture – a love story centred around a fateful sea voyage and the intervention of King Neptune (God of the Sea).
Also on the programme on Thursday is Mozart’s piano concerto No 23, performed by Sodi Braide, a young British born pianist; and Tchaikovsky’s richly rewarding Symphony No. 1 in G minor, ‘Winter Daydreams’. Tickets through Computicket.
