“The earth laughs in flowers.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson.
Glenwood Village: Sat 14 Sept from 9am
The management and tenants at Glenwood Village are celebrating the change in season with a spring-themed family-day on Saturday 14 September, hosting a free morning fashion show of women’s garments, children’s activities, cupcake decorating sessions, storytelling in the library, an arts and crafts hub, live music and various tenant in-store promotions.
“Increasingly we understand the need to nurture a sense of neighbourhood in places where we gather,” said Glenwood Village’s Steve King, “And what better occasion to celebrate our shared community, than the beginning of spring!” he said.
Tenants have been working together to offer a fun spring morning. The library will be hosting art lessons during the morning, and storytelling sessions at 10.30am and 11.30am for children.
There will be a fashion show at 11am – with bespoke ladies’ garments from The Fifth 031, being modelled by woman who work in the centre. The Fifth is a collective of local designers all of whom make limited edition smart casual, special occasion and evening ensembles.
From 10 until noon, outside Carol’s Home Industry, there will be cupcake decorating sessions – where public can try their hand at decorating individual cupcakes. Next door at Licks and Snuggles Pet Shop, there will be a children’s colouring in station, where little ones can create colourful pet-themed art.
The ever-proactive Glenwood Village Hardware will be hosting an arts and crafts hub showcasing and displaying art works and art supplies to encourage visitors to explore their creative talents.
Durban’s own Gary McKenzie will be singing spring tunes and making visitors aware of activities and promotions taking place throughout the centre.
Many of the shops will be offering spring specials and promotions and both coffee shops will be offering morning tea specials, and there will be spring plants, flowers and bouquets on sale.
Entry is free and all are welcome. Glenwood Village doesn’t charge for on-site parking, has guarded street parking and is easily accessible on public transport.
