Hilton College: 13 – 15 September
This year’s Hilton Arts Festival, scheduled to run from 13 – 15 September, offers a bumper 237 different events in more than 34 venues!!
The Festival Director, Sue Clarence, has just spent a happy hour calculating the intricacies and magnitude of the festival. Faced with these statistics, she challenges anyone to say that there is nothing for them. There are:
– 237 scheduled events: plays, concerts, music revues, talks, workshops, demonstrations, street theatre performances, live music, films, wine and bubbles tastings … in 23 venues;
– 91 visual artists in six different venues;
– Five exhibitions in five venues;
– 38 spots to get coffee, food and snacks;
– 125 bespoke craft stalls
All these are within walking distance from each other. Park safely once only! Entrance to the grounds is free. There is free live music in the Stella Festival Marquee and the Crookes Craft Beet Bistro. All art exhibitions are free and all street theatre is free. In fact, the vibe is FREE…so come along. Be prepared for all weather.
The KidZone will keep small people happy …and it’s carefully positioned for Mums and Dads to have a coffee …. or even a sip of something stronger
The Hilton Arts Festival, now in its 27th year takes place from 13 to 15 September in the grounds of Hilton College, near Pietermaritzburg.
The full programme will appear in KZN copies of The Sunday Times on Sunday 11 August. Booking opens on 12 August, and the programme will be live on the festival website from the morning of 12 August.
