Seaman’s Corner, Saturday 29 September
In association with Concerts SA and Seaman’s Corner, iSupport Music Business presents Andisawa Maduna live in concert at Seaman’s Corner in Hammarsdale. Tickets are just R30 and available at the door.
“It is Heritage Month this month, and I am all for our African Music. It’s going to be a great night. If you love African music then Seaman’s Corner is the place to be on the 29th of September. I’ll be covering songs by the late Mam Busi Mhlongo and other various great musicians!” says Maduna.
Joining Maduna on stage will be Mawande Kunene on Piano, Mukelani Mgobhozi on drums, Blessing Thwala on Bass, Sinalo Zulu playing the trumpet, and Sanele Ntombela on guitar.
Andiswa Maduna was born in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. She is a young, vibrant and assertive woman- 22 years old and currently studying Jazz and popular music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
Maduna started singing at a young age. She took part in school choirs both in primary (Ndabenhle P. P.) and high school (Sukuma Comprehensive). She started off singing choral and gospel music. “I can say that those experiences have taught me to be versatile,” says Maduna. She was part of one of the best choirs in KwaZulu-Natal- the Pietermaritzburg Choral Society, led by the late Mr. Radebe, known for his great contributions to choral music around South Africa. She then followed her passion for gospel music, her passion for God. She has worked with the Themba Njilo Foundation- a non-profit youth development organisation- and uHologo Production as a backing vocalist and also as a studio vocalist. She has also worked with all the artists in the uHologo Production stable, most notably Neli Dlamini who won the I want to sing Gospel competition, runner-up Sthe Gumede, and Nathi and Nkanyiso.
This concert is part of the Concerts SA Venue Circuit that aims to foster a love and support for live music in our communities, as well as anchor small and medium-sized venues in urban and rural Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Western Cape.
Concerts SA is a joint South African/Norwegian live music development project housed within the SAMRO Foundation. Concerts SA receives financial, administrative and technical support from the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SAMRO, the SAMRO Foundation and Concerts Norway. Working with musicians, promoters, venue owners and audiences, and providing support to the sector through research and skills development for music professionals, the project aims to build a vibrant and viable live music circuit in southern Africa.
