27 September – 1 October
The effervescent guitar maestro, Seb Goldswain has announced his dates for his tour around KZN this Spring.
His Jazzy, Rock sound blended in with a bit of acoustic finger-picking ensures that his original solo acoustic performances are always highly energetic and a gig to remember. Having had a relatively quiet year as far as performing and artistic output goes, and after walking down the aisle; the guitar virtuoso has jumped into the spring and heritage season working on material for his next solo-acoustic album as well as working on loads of new and exciting material for his live shows that he is eager to introduce to the world.
“I had the immense God-given honour of marrying my best friend Brittany back in May, and since everyone in my life at the time was frantically consumed with the selection of bunting, matching navy-blue fabric, flower arrangements and macarons, I figured it was probably wise not to book shows for a while. But now, I am excited to be announcing my tour, not only around select spots in KZN, but also to Cape Town and Johannesburg in the latter part of year.”
On the back of his debut album ‘Pictures of a Thousand Words’, the rising star has taken a bold step towards establishing himself as a new breed of original voices in South Africa. Encompassing influences from across a wide range of genres and cultures, his first album is stylistically diverse, while carrying a sound throughout that is both unique to him and a distinct sound of his home province.
The Durban-based talent is also proficient in bluegrass, blues, funk, heavy rock, country and Jazz styles, and encompasses these styles, as well as a wide range of artistic influences, into his original electric material.
His tour, proudly sponsored by Marshall Music Hillcrest, kicks off on Wednesday 27 September with a guitar clinic at COPA in Durban, entry is free and all are welcome. He moves on to the Alliance Française in Morningside the next day. On Friday, he heads up to Pietermaritzburg where he takes to the stage at The Dive situated at the Hexagon Theatre on campus. He returns back to 031, this time entertaining the crowds at the Westville Theatre Club on Saturday 30 September. His final gig takes him to the vibrant music venue in Ramsgate, Rocky Ridge hosts an afternoon show on Sunday 1 October.
“Epic player from Durban I’ve had the pleasure of watching a few times. I met Seb years back when he was a wee boy. Turbo talent! Super Underrated!” – Dan Patlansky, SA Blues Guitar Legend.
