Fusion Café, Musgrave: 11 May
After a successful national musical tour, Charming French-Congolese singer and balladeer Rene Tshiakanyi will be performing on Saturday 11 May in a special Mother’s Day concert.
He is teaming up with renown Chef Shaun Smith from Fusion French Cafe for a Concert in the (Car) Park at Silvervause Centre, Musgrave.
Here is perfect the opportunity to spoil our Mothers! One can expect a relaxing Saturday for family, with a yummy light lunch of Music & Mezze. There will also be arts and crafts.
Rene will perform with his piano and guitar, with a repertoire of fabulous songs which our Mothers will love – sung in French, Portuguese, English, Zulu and Afrikaans.
Rene Tshiakanyi is a familiar presence at elegant dining establishments in and around greater Durban. Rene was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1981. The second of 12 children, he developed a love for music and an interest in performance. He relocated to South Africa in 2008 and now resides in Durban. Singing in multiple languages, he describes his music and compositions as a mixture of classic pop; RnB; reggae and Zouk (which is a mixture of French and Caribbean music). His sound is undeniably distinctive.
Many of his songs are thoughtful and reflective – about love, emotion and passion in all its guises. Increasingly though, his new music talks about pertinent global issues: the crisis in the Congo, the plight of refugees; the quest for peace and freedom in Africa and the need to be the voice for the voiceless sufferers of violence. He is an active ambassador for orphans and vulnerable children who are victims of the ongoing unrest and violence in Eastern Congo, and closer to home he is an ambassador for Life Line Durban.
Rene Tshiakanyi is a brand ambassador for Lifeline Durban – a respected and experienced NGO offering a professional and confidential counselling service dealing with emotional crisis, trauma, abuse, violence, rape, HIV / AIDS and depression / suicide.
Shaun Smith owner of Fusion café has put together a light and affordable menu for the occasion
