Innovation Festival
Thursday 28, Friday 29 June: Bond Shed, Point
Saturday 30: KZNSA Gallery
Jasmin Murugan is enjoying her holiday by building her own drawing robot at the “doodle spot” which is part of the Innovation Festival “Disruptive Technology Exhibition” in the Bond Shed on the Point.
Innovation Festival (IF) takes the form of an all-day outdoor free public exhibition featuring among other things drones, 3D printing, 3D scanning from theMakerSpace; as well as Segways, the DUT energy vehicle and electronic cars at the Point. The final day of the workshop / presentation sessions are tomorrow (Sat) at the KZNSA Gallery.
The Innovation Festival is embedded within the massive Intersections series of events comprising ISEA2018; Digifest05 and IF Durban, who have jointly created a city-wide showcase of dozens of workshops, exhibitions, presentations, talks, events, installations, walks, festivals and activities, and a major global conference on new media art, all of which wraps up tomorrow, Saturday.
Still to come is PechaKucha at Distillery 031 tonight (Friday) – a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each – which will host a sample of speakers from the various events, allowing guests an overview / highlights package of some of the presentations from the week’s sessions. Wrapping up the season is the ninth edition of Interpret Durban this Saturday at the Durban City Hall which will kick off from 6pm with artists making work that talks to the idea of Intersections, with an array of electronic art lined up from across the globe, combined with fabulous music and fun vibes.
