Zakifo Music Festival
24 May – 01 June 2019
Meute, the 11-piece techno marching band from Hamburg, Germany, surprised and delighted lunch hour commuters in Braamfontein today with a flash-mob style guerrilla gig. Meute is a ground-breaking brass ensemble that combines hypnotic driving techno and expressive brass band music. They are due to give a rousing performance tonight (Thursday) with Bombshelter Beast at the Good Luck Bar in Johannesburg and travel to Durban tomorrow to perform at the opening concert at Zakifo (Fri 24 May) at the Winston / Origin precinct, and then onto Bushfire Festival on 25 May. Their tour is supported by Goethe-Institut South Africa.
The fifth annual Zakifo Music Festival lands on Durban’s shores over two consecutive weekends from 24 May until 1 June with a series of intimate pop-up bespoke concerts in venues in and around Durban.
