Durban is host to a myriad phenomenal piano players who will be performing in and around the city over the next few days: internationally-acclaimed Ukrainian-American classical pianist, internet star, and social commentator Valentina Lisitsa who is the soloist for this evening’s (Thursday) KwaZulu Natal Philharmonic Orchestra concert at the Durban City Hall performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.2. She is one of the most frequently viewed pianists on YouTube. She shares the keyboards with Roelof Colyn and James Smith, two of the stars from touring evergreen comedy piano musical show, A Handful of Keys, which opened at the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino last night where it runs until 19 November. A Handful of Keys has played to more the 420 000 people in over 1450 performances over the last 23 years. For the first time there will three keyboards and three pianists on the stage.
Colyn and Smith were hugely delighted to be meeting Miss Lisitsa in person!
