KZNPO Summer Season concert one:
Durban City Hall: Thurs 13 Feb: 7.30pm
Love on a Train: This Thursday (tomorrow) is the first orchestra concert of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra Summer Symphony Season, and the first public concert of the year. On the programme is the beautiful Rachmaninoff piano concerto no2. It was famously the sound-track for “The most romantic British movie ever made” Brief Encounter – A David Lean film written by Noel Coward which is about two unlikely people meeting on a train. In between rehearsals, soloist Francois du Toit (pictured left) and conductor Yasuo Shinozaki visit the city’s most magnificent privately-owned train set to get inspiration for the concert.
Also on the programme are two concert staples by Romantic composer Brahms. The KZNPO will be making music every Thursday evening in the Durban City Hall at 7.30pm from tomorrow until 5 March.
Tickets through Computicket / Call 0861 915 8000.
