Live @ The Rainbow- Niathi Zuma’s Debut Album Launch

Saturday 22 September
Concerts SA, The Rainbow and Simple Sounds Records are thrilled to announce one of Durban’s most popular emerging Jazz artists, Niathi Zuma’s album Unyana Wom’ntu (Umsamarayi).
Pull in to the Rainbow Jazz Club in Pinetown for a day of good food and drinks accompanied by the soothing sounds of Niathi Zuma, Scelo Gowane and the Indibano Jazz Band. Released through Simple Sounds Records, this is singer/songwriter Niathi Zuma’s debut album, containing a beautiful and honest collection of songs, straight from the heart.
Zuma’s optimistic and appreciative outlook on life has managed to create an empowering and uplifting album, full of promise. Originally from Eastern Cape, Zuma’s songs serve to inspire people from rural areas to aim for more than what their reality tells them is possible for them to achieve. The music has a very mature sound yet also accommodates and relates to a young market, as the message of the songs are generally inspired by life experiences and restoring hope to those who’ve lost all hope.
“Writing these songs was my way of coping with life, I gain inspiration from my life and struggles and of those around me. My music relates to all and transcends time because it will always take you back to that first moment- your first kiss, falling in love, losing a loved one etc. My music speaks about life.”
The album launch features a wide array of culturally and musically diverse musicians, all Durbanites. Zuma handle vocals and is joined by Ayanda Sosisibo on bass, Mzamo Zungu on drums, Nhlanhla Xulu on keyboards, Kwenza Mhlambo on guitar, Nhlanhla Mletsane on trumpet, Nathi Ntshangase on trombone and horns.
