Fans of Footloose – the iconic 80’s movie with a great soundtrack, featuring a youthful Kevin Bacon as the tenacious and rebellious city teenager, Ren and John Lithgow as the conservative Rev Shaw Moore, are in for a treat this week. Footloose has two different incarnations currently on the boards in Durban: the 17th annual Young Performers Production is a reprise of the full-length musical, Footloose, directed by Daisy Spencer, featuring a cast of talented youthful performers performing to a live band at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on campus. Also the theme song, Footloose is being performed as a line-dancing number by Denim and Diamonds as part of the line-up in this year’s Shall We Dance currently on at the Playhouse Theatre. Both shows have received rave reviews and run until this Sunday, and booking for both is through Computicket.
