Lovers of piano music have at least two opportunities of caching their favourite instrument in action in Durban.
The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra is half-way through its Summer Symphony Season taking place every Thursday in the Playhouse Opera. Tonight’s concert features 23 years old, Mariam Batsashvili from Tbilisi, Georgia performing Franz Liszt’s virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 1 under the baton of KZN Philharmonic’s associate guest conductor, Israeli-American Daniel Boico.
Ian von Memerty returns to the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre in Durban with his fabulous latest offering, Keyboard Killers until 5 March in which he presents music of eight timeless icons: Stevie Wonder, Noel Coward, John Legend, Irving Berlin, Freddy Mercury, Fats Waller, Cole Porter and Billy Joel.
Having fun on the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre stairs are pianists Mariam Batsashvili and Ian von Memerty.
