DHC: Sat 14 February at 2pm
All are welcome to the Denis Hurley Centre’s annual Stakeholders Meeting which will take place at the DHC at 2pm on Sat 14 February giving the public an opportunity to learn more about this busy watershed centre in the heart of the city.
The DHC once a year is pleased to report back to its many stakeholders in person – service users, staff, religious leaders, donors, and partner organisations from the corporate, NGO and academic worlds.
Each year since 2009, the dates closest to the death anniversary of Archbishop Hurley (13 Feb 2004) have been marked as a ‘Hurley Weekend’ which features the Denis Hurley Centre stakeholder report back and Memorial Masses in Emmanuel Cathedral
The Stakeholders Meeting will include reports from the Chair (Rev Dr Delysia Timm) and the Director (Dr Raymond Perrier) reflecting on highlights of the last 12 months. There will also be the announcement of the annual Barry Wood Award for Outstanding Service by staff members and volunteers.
A special guest this year is Hon Cyril Xaba, the Executive Mayor of Durban. He will offer some reflections on his own memories of Archbishop Hurley (and Paddy Kearney, the founder of the DHC) since he worked closely with both of them.
The formal proceedings will start at 2.30pm, beforehand there will light refreshments from 2pm.
The invitation to all events is extended to patrons, trustees, donors, Government representatives, partners from other NGOs, volunteers, staff members, service-users, Cathedral parishioners, clergy and people from different Christian denominations and from other religious traditions.
