Front Page of Today’s The Independent On Saturday
The rehearsals for KickstArt’s riotous, rollicking family panto version of Puss in Boots started this week. Blessing Xaba plays the panto dame, the long-suffering mother, Merry Marzipan, who runs a “boulangerie” (bakery) and is tasked to make a feast of donuts for the wicked ogre. Blessing was spotted at the Pavilion Food Court getting into character at Wicked Donuts, a Durban based, female owned gourmet donut business. The Pavilion is getting into the spirit of the festive season with “The Workshop of Wonders” offering activities for children. Santa will be in the centre a fortnight before Christmas for photos, and if children want to write him a letter; there will be a charity gift-wrapping station, live music and a one-day afternoon / evening rooftop market on December 21. Puss in Boots comes to the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre in Durban from 5 December to 12 January. It is set on an enchanted Caribbean Island and features sumptuous sets, colourful costumes, songs, dance and jokes a-plenty. Tickets: Webtickets.
