Review for Keyboard Killers by Chris Sutton

Ian Von Memerty is back at the Sneddon with another short run of the very popular “Keyboard Killers”.
Accompanied by base player Andrew Warneke and drummer Bronwen Clacherty, Von Memerty introduces us to 8 musicians who he regards as being exceptionally talented ie:
Freddy Mercury, John Legend, Cole Porter, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Noel Coward, Irving Berlin and Fats Waller.
Ian himself has lashings of talent. He can’t cover all the stars’ pieces in depth, but does play some full length numbers to treat the audience to his heros’ work. For me the standout was his rendition of John Legend’s Academy Award ( 2014 ) winning “Glory”.
8 stars so I came up with 8 words that I feel describes the show :
Eclectic. ( this is for young and old ).
Topical. ( some lyrics are changes to reflect the present ).
Witty. ( lots of it delivered in what I thinks was a kind way ).
Innovative. ( wait till the end ….Ian pulls this off very well ! ).
Interesting. ( especially Fats Waller ! ).
Nostalgic. ( Dreaming of a White Christmas ).
Stirring. ( Johen Legen and Freddy Mercury ).
Amusing. ( Noel Coward ).
( Tip – get a programme as it provides a concise summary of the artists lives ).
