Sunday 12 February
The Point Yacht Club will be setting the mood as the month of love gets underway, why not venture down to the magnificent harbour setting for a V Day celebration with the Gee Jays on Sunday 12 February.
Durban’s longest running cabaret group, the Gee Jays featuring Gary McKenzie, John Didlick and Grant Bell, supported by vivacious vocalist Marion Loudon will serenade the audience in a programme entitled ‘Let there be love….’ to be held in at The Venue at PYC.
The trio of McKenzie, Bell and Didlick met in 1984 and have performed together in various amateur, semi-professional and professional productions over the years. They formed firstly out of developing together as singers who managed to crack the often-difficult task of ‘finding the right harmony’, and have since developed into a highly professional and humorous entertainment outfit.
From the outset, the trio have insisted on providing three basic ingredients in their act. FUN, LAUGHTER, and NOSTALGIA. This formula seems to have worked. Included in the act now are a wide selection of songs from the 50’s, right through to current hits, with medleys and songs from The Beatles, Elton John, The Beach Boys, and Elvis, all this mixed with early comedy sketches from “The Two Ronnies”, Not The Nine O’Clock News”, and many more original sketches that have been developed with time.
Adding her voice to the mix, Durban’s very own songstress, Loudon is sure to delight in the shenanigans on stage. No stranger to local audiences, Loudon’s multitude of talents has had her perform from Sondheim stage musicals to smooth jazz and everything in-between.
Tickers are R130 per person with snack platters and meal options available. The afternoon festivities commence at 1pm with
