If you appreciate innovative original live music, there is no reason to stay home tonight – with two of the region’s most innovative performers having separate gigs on in Durban this evening – Dr Thokozani Mhlambi on cello is performing his Zulu Songcycle at the Playhouse Loft this evening at 6.30pm for 7.30pm; and effervescent guitar maestro, Seb Goldswain is at the Alliance Française de Durban this evening at 6:30 for 7pm
Internationally acclaimed KZN-born composer, cellist and academic, Dr Thokozani Mhlambi is presenting a series of special one-off Durban concerts and events for Heritage Month, embracing multiple genres and influences – from Beethoven to Mazizi Kunene – in and around Durban over month-end September using different media and multi-cultural musicians to creatively explore new South African music idioms.
Seb Goldswain has a busy time ahead with a whirl wind tour of KZN. His jazzy, rock sound blended in with a bit of acoustic finger-picking ensures that his original solo acoustic performances are always highly energetic and a gig to remember.
