Durban is about to be the best place on the planet for lovers of film with five major international film events taking place over the next fortnight. The winter Durban film season kicks off with the second edition of the Nature, Environment & Wildlife Filmmakers Congress (NEWF) which will take place at the Durban Botanic Gardens on July 16 to 18 to create a path to conservation through film. Next up is the 39th Durban International Film Festival bringing film lovers and filmmakers from across the globe to the shores of Durban from 19 to 29 July; the Durban FilmMart, one of Africa’s premier film industry events begins its four day event on July 20 during DIFF; the 14th Wavescape ocean festival is from 23 to 27 July. Finally, the 2018 BRICS Film Festival showcases five of the best films from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, coming to the Playhouse from 22 to 27 July.
