Denis Hurley Centre’s annual Hurley weekend
DHC / Emmanuel Cathedral: Sat 12 and Sun 13 Feb
The Denis Hurley Centre Annual Hurley Weekend took place in person; with a selection of participative events to honour Archbishop Hurley over the weekend closes to his death (he died on 13 Feb 2004). There was a special focus on Archbishop Tutu this year, with a panel discussion among young people looking at the legacies of the two great leaders.
During the Annual Stakeholder Meeting, seven candles were lit to honour the seven pillars of the organisation (donors; faith community; NGOs and schools; corporate and media; government; volunteers and staff, and recipients).
Here formerly homeless Street Lit bookseller, Mxolisy Mavimbela, a recipient of the services and support of the DHC lights the final candle.
