2019 KZN Philharmonic Spring Season: Week Two:
Durban City Hall: Thursday 7 November at 7.30pm
A very special concert is planned for this evening, Thursday 7 November, in Durban’s City Hall during which the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates 25 years of our country’s democracy, as well as 25 years of KZN Philharmonic’s Artistic Director and CEO Bongani Tembe’s leadership. Daniel Boico is on the podium this evening conducting the orchestra and Durban’s leading choirs: the Clermont Community Choir, Durban Symphonic Choir; SA Singers; Joyful Sounds and guest soloists who perform a selection of music by Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn, and musical highlights by acclaimed home-grown composers. Also on the programme is Haydn’s brilliant Trumpet Concerto in E Flat, spotlighting young British virtuoso Matilda Lloyd as guest soloist. One of the vocalists this evening is the “uber driver opera singer” Menzi Mngoma (tenor).
